Knowledge in Service of Society Initiative
Since 2014
Harnessing knowledge to empower people, solve real-world challenges, and create lasting social impact.
Our Mission
The Knowledge in Service of Society Initiative was founded in 2014 with a simple belief: knowledge has its greatest value when it is shared, applied, and used to improve society.
Our mission is to make knowledge accessible, practical, and impactful by removing barriers such as cost, language, and limited access to quality educational resources. We believe that every individual should have the opportunity not only to learn but also to apply their knowledge to improve their lives, strengthen their communities, and contribute to solving local and global challenges.
What We Do
- Create free, high-quality educational resources that are openly accessible to everyone.
- Develop practical tools and learning experiences that help people transform knowledge into real-world impact.
- Promote lifelong learning, innovation, and continuous personal and professional development.
- Encourage the application of knowledge to address community needs and societal challenges.
- Support students, educators, researchers, and professionals in sharing knowledge for the benefit of others.
- Foster collaboration, volunteerism, and initiatives that use knowledge as a force for positive social change.
How fairAqar fits in
Housing Reality Index (fairaqar.help) is a direct expression of this initiative. Buying or renting a home is one of the biggest financial decisions most families make, yet in many markets — including Homs, Syria — reliable price information is scarce, opaque, and often shaped by those with the most to gain.
fairAqar turns established valuation knowledge into a free, independent, bilingual tool that anyone can use to check whether an asking price is realistic. By making that knowledge accessible — at no cost, in Arabic and English, and grounded in a transparent methodology — it helps ordinary people negotiate fairly, avoid overpaying, and make sounder decisions, while giving the wider community an honest view of its housing market. It is knowledge, put in the service of society.
